New England Colonial Refresh
This New England Colonial functioned well for the homeowners, however, it was time for a refresh. While the original footprint of the kitchen and bathrooms remained the same, BLB Custom Building updated nearly every inch of each room – totally rejuvenating the 90s home.
In the kitchen, the original maple cabinets and stone top were replaced with white Shaker-style cabinets and quartzite countertops. Other features include brass fixtures and hardware to contrast the lighter color scheme, updated stainless-steel appliances, and glass panes to display kitchenware and create the illusion of more space. In the foyer, modern and traditional features blended together through the addition of a decorative picture frame wainscoting and chair rail along the staircase and a glossy-black finish applied to the handrail.
The bathrooms all received new tile flooring along with updated plumbing fixtures and accessories, with the first-floor powder room receiving decorative porcelain tile and an updated pedestal sink and toilet. The second floor bathrooms were fitted with custom vanities with additional storage space and quartz vanity tops for durability. In the master bathroom, a coat of light blue paint was added to brighten and expand the space – complimenting the glossy, Carrara-like tile wainscoting and floor. To complete the luxurious master, a freestanding tub with an ergonomic design and a massive walk-in shower with a hand-held fixture, stone bench, and full-length niche were installed.
